Course Aims

The Aim:
To provide an awareness of what asbestos is , typical locations and how to work safely to avoid exposure by developing knowledge with regards to the hazards and risks posed by asbestos.

Objective:
On completion delegates should have an increased awareness of the nature and properties of asbestos and its effects on health. Be familiar with the types, uses and likely locations of Asbestos. Know how to avoid the risks and be aware of emergency procedures to follow.

The course includes Practical activities and assessment, and a written exam, supported by a theory based presentation, involving:

• What is asbestos
• Types of asbestos
• History overview
• Health effects
• Where it is found
• Visual recognition
• Risk assessment
• Principles of control
• Regulations
• Emergency procedure
• PPE and breathing equipment.

Accreditation

Upon Successful completion of the course the delegate will be issued with
UKATA Asbestos Awareness Qualification
