Description

This course is intended to provide a delegate with the understanding required to carry out the duties of a PC when deemed suitable by their local line manager and to meet the relevant requirements of the Network Rail Company Standard.

Course Aims

At the end of this course delegates will be able to:
•Understand the Lifesaving Rules.
•Know the role and responsibilities of a PC.
•Understand and demonstrate a good level of both written and verbal communications.
•Understand the process and demonstrate ability to take and hand back line blockages.
•Understand the procedure for authorising work to start.
•Be able to effectively brief those sharing the protection.
•Understand the procedure when PC/COSS/IWA are relieved of duty.
•Understand the process when the line blockage is not handed back on time.

Course Content

•Welcome and Introduction
•Procedure for blocking the line and protection arrangements
•Starting work/Change of work/Change of PC/COSS/SWL,
•When work is completed or suspended,
•When work is not completed or suspended at an agreed time, resumption of work, •Knowledge assessment,
•Practical/Verbal Assessment,
•Post course training objectives

Accreditation

PQMS Limited will upload the relevant competence outcome(s) and result(s) to the Sentinel system.

Prerequisites

•Must hold the required medical level.
•COSS must be held and is subject to a verification assessment at the start of the course. Unsuccessful candidates will not be allowed to continue.
•Must have a good level of literacy.
