DC Lines Level B Switching


This course is intended for candidates who wish to carry out DC switching duties on Network Rail’s infrastructure.

Course Aims

Upon successful completion of the course candidates will be able to:
• Describe how the electricity is fed to the conductor rail, including single feed, double feed and sectioning.
• Use an approved live line tester to prove the conductor rail is not energised.
• Apply short circuiting bars
• Fit short circuiting straps
• Operate hook/track isolating switches in a safe efficient manner

PQMS Limited will upload the relevant competence outcome(s) and result(s) to the Sentinel system.


1 Day


• Must hold current Sentinel track safety card endorsed with PTS DCCR
• Must hold in date first aid with electrical accidents qualification*
*Please note if this is not held PQMS can provide training for this qualification.
