Description

This course is intended to provide candidates with the skills and underpinning knowledge to enable them to undertake Possession Support duties in line with the Possession Support unit of competence. Re-certification is required every three years, and this will be done by assessment requirements.

Course Aims

Upon successful completion of the course candidates will be able to:
• Identify the tasks required to be undertaken by Possession Support.
• Carry out the Duties of the Possession Support competence requirements as specified in the Unit of Competence for Possession Support
• Demonstrate the appropriate behaviours required when conducting Possession Support duties safely and effectively
• Communicate with key personnel in conjunction with the role of Possession Support, using the correct protocols and variety of communication equipment
• Demonstrate the procedures to be carried out for the safe placing and removal of possession protection

• RAIB Reading Case Study
• Preparing for a possession
• Principles of Working in a Possession Including:
• Placing Protection
• Dealing with train movements

• Theory & Practical Assessment
• Completion of Post Course Training Objectives

Accreditation

PQMS Limited will upload the relevant competence outcome(s) and result(s) to the Sentinel system.

Prerequisites

• Candidate must hold valid sentinel card endorsed with PTS, IWA or COSS
• Good level of English Literacy Required.
• Must be minimum of 18 Years of age.
• Must hold current track safety card and meet the requirements of NR/L2/CTM/021 – Competence and training in track safety.
• Must meet the requirements of Network Rail standard NR/L2/OHS/00124 medical & NR/L1/OHS/051 drugs and alcohol requirements.
• Must bring Photographic I.D.
