Description

This course is intended for candidates who wish to work on or near the line on Network Rail’s infrastructure.

Re-certification is required every two years and consists of a one-day classroom-based course and assessment.

Course Aims

Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will be able to demonstrate their understanding and ability to follow a Safe System of Work.

Candidates will also be able to demonstrate their ability to correctly interpret relevant instructions when required to go on or near the line, from the following references:
• Rule Book GE/RT 8000 Series
• Guide to Personal Track Safety
• PTS Key Point Card NR9922 and

Course Content

The course includes written exams, practical activities and assessment, supported by theory based presentations including:
• Welcome & Introduction and Verification Exercise
• Personal Responsibility
• Emergency Situations
• Communicating Clearly and Emergency Phone Calls
• COSS Briefing
• Track Visit and Assessment
• Knowledge and Verbal Assessment
• Completion of Post Course Training Objectives

Accreditation

PQMS will upload the relevant competence outcome(s) and result(s) to the Sentinel system.

Prerequisites

• Successful completion of the PTS E-Learning training package is required prior to attendance on the Practical training day.

• In date Medical screening uploaded to Sentinel.

• In date Drugs and Alcohol screening uploaded to Sentinel.
