For persons required to enter and work within a confined space. Designed for managers, supervisors and operatives who may need to enter or supervise the entry into Low Risk Confined Spaces.

Course Aims
To provide delegates with a thorough understanding of Confined Space procedures, the dangers of confined spaces and to enable them to carry out a vertical entry to work in a Confined Space.
On completion delegates should be able to assess dangers associated with confined space working, risk assess a confined space, classify the confined space, undertake pre-entry checks on equipment, explain why there is a need for periodic examinations of equipment and identify emergency procedures when working within a confined space.
Course Content
The Course Includes a practical exercise, practical assessment and written exam,which will be supplemented with classroom based tutorials, involving:
• The Confined Spaces Regulations 1997
• Identification of risks and their control
• Safe system of work
• Hazardous atmospheres and gas monitoring
• Permits to work control measures
• Personal Protective Equipment
• Selection of suitable equipment
• Gases and gas detection units (GDU)
• Equipment pre-use inspection and safe operation
• Emergency procedures
Accreditation
Delegates successfully completing the course will be awarded a City & Guilds Level 2 Qualification
